In her private practice at Tournesol, on the Upper West Side of New York City and in East Hampton she treats men and women of all ages and stages in life (including adolescents) whose problems include: depression, anxiety, domestic violence, early child sexual abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse and relationship and sexual problems. Her sessions are intensive, often lasting several consecutive hours when needed. Both she and her patients have found the longer sessions to be very effective, since her methodology significantly shortens the overall amount of time that people spend in therapy.
From the beginning of her career, Beatty has integrated a mind/body/spiritual perspective into her therapy. "No bandage therapy for me”, she says. Beatty works closely with other professionals including physicians, psychiatrists, life coaches and other integrative health professionals and believes that a team approach to solving-problems is always in the best interest of her patients. "I cannot imagine working in any other way."
Beatty earned her Master's of Clinical Social Work degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She has post-graduate specialization in marriage and family therapy and sexual dysfunction. She began her career as a school social worker in the Montreal School system. She then (with 3 other colleagues) designed and implemented a model program in hundreds of elementary and high schools and school boards in the Greater Montreal area. She was administratively and clinically responsible for a large staff that provided counseling to students and their families.
When Beatty lived in Toronto, she worked for the Toronto Jewish Federation in the areas of social planning and social policy. In Calgary, she was the Executive Director of Jewish Family Services. Within less than two years, Beatty replaced virtually all of the Agency's staff and was responsible for the Agency receiving Accreditation with Family Service America. In Providence, Rhode Island and Sarasota, Florida Beatty had a very successful private practice. In 2008 Governor Jeb Bush appointed her to Florida's Commission on Marriage and Family Support Initiatives for a two-year term. She has also been endorsed by Laura Bush, former Governor of Florida Charlie Crist and has hundreds of testimonials from patients, producers and colleagues who admire her expertise, energy and honesty.
Beatty is an out-of network, out-patient mental health provider for most insurance companies. Beatty can provide people with out of network benefits the necessary codes so that they may submit the appropriate paperwork to their insurance companies.
