Jin Shin Jyutsu
What is Jin Shin Jyutsu®?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a Japanese healing art that harmonizes the life energy in the body. It assists in calming nerves, reducing stress and enhancing the circulatory and immune system, thereby enabling the body to relax, heal and rejuvenate. A wonderful aspect of Jin Shin Jyutsu is the opportunity to learn self-help.
It is worth noting that Jin Shin Jyutsu is being utilized in hospitals before and after surgery to help patients heal more quickly and with less discomfort. It is also being utilized to assist cancer patients with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, while decreasing stress and enhancing emotional well-being.
What is Jin Shin Jyutsu® used for?
This highly subtle healing modality uses light touch to release tensions in the body. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a useful treatment for alleviating discomforts, reducing stress and anxiety, assisting the respiratory, immune, and circulatory systems, and for overall health and wellness.
What should I expect at my Jin Shin Jyutsu® (JSJ) session?
During a JSJ session, the client lies on their back on a massage table fully clothed. Only shoes, a belt, watch, or other bulky jewelry need to be removed. After an initial intake discussion, the Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner, will place her hands on the wrists of the patient and listen to the client’s pulses to determine the flows for the session.
A single session lasts 60 minutes for adults. After assessing the client’s needs, the practitioner will place her hands on up to 26 specific locations on each side of the body, (known as Safety Energy Locks), to release tension and stress and to harmonize the life energy in the body. Jin Shin Jyutsu does not involve massage or manipulation of muscles or bones.
Self-help methods are often recommended at the end of the session to maintain and enhance the session’s benefits.
